When full built, Vanguard Landing will have 185 full-time residents on campus and an additional 50 day participants who will live off campus. Vanguard Landing will also have a handful of approved rental tenants who are neuro-typical adults in some of the one-bedroom row houses.

The minimum age is 18 or when they have graduated from high school and there are no maximum age limits. The intention is that our residents will stay with us as long as they wish and as long as we can meet their needs.

The rent, via a lease and Supported Living Service Fees cover almost everything with the exception of: Medical Insurance, co-pays, medications, clothing, and travel.

Rent/Services Fees cover everything including a private room, private bathroom, food, utilities, all on campus activities and programs, including pre-vocational programming, transportation. Residents must have their own insurance. 

Your specific Rent/Services Fees will depend upon several factors. But generally the Rent/Services Fees will be between $4000-4500. Whether you will be paying privately or using your applicant’s Medicaid Waiver, many things go into your custom future plan for your family member.

Step One: Complete both packets as completely as possible and mail back to Vanguard Landing. The applicant’s family will be notified that we have received it. If any main information is missing, it will slow your process down.

Step Two: The Financial Review begins as well as the Admissions Review Process to ensure all information is complete and correct to the standards we require to process for a confident acceptance. You will have several conversations with the VGL staff regarding all your information and we will assist you along the way.

Step Three: Upon acceptance, the family will again, be notified and will be sent an invoice for the initial fee. Once received, the applicant will be placed on our waiting list and the family will again, be notified.

Each case will be determined on an individual basis but an example would perhaps be that the accepted candidate is not ready at the time a room becomes available, then the person would go back on the waiting list and the next person on the list is offered the room.

No, this has never been the plan. A family can sponsor a 5 bedroom cottage or a one bedroom rowhouse and name it in honor of someone or their family but they will not own the building.

We also will have opportunities for neuro-typical adults to apply to rent some of our one bedroom rowhouses.

We have three endowment funds that donors can contribute to: Scholarship, Maintenance and The Van Garden.

Yes. Vanguard Landing will provide transportation to appointments and off-site employment when needed.

Vanguard Landing will offer two different living arrangements: five-bedroom, one story cottages and one-bedroom, one-story rowhouses.

The homes will be single gender. The exception would be a married couple renting a one-bedroom rowhouse.

After researching innovative ideas for more options for the population we aim to serve, our Founder brought forth the idea to create an Intentional Community to Virginia. Vanguard Landing will be a new Intentional Community following in the footsteps of many forward-thinking communities around the country. Some have been around a long time and are full with wait lists and some are starting like Vanguard.

Vanguard Landing will be a fully licensed provider accepting residents and day employees both with or without waiver. Vanguard Landing will bill monthly according to the plan the family sets up.
